Sheffield City Council Home First Community Team are looking for two Planning & Coordination Officers to join our Adult Social Care Provider Services, supporting the effective planning, coordination and monitoring of resources to ensure safe, high‑quality services for people who draw on care and support.
About the role
As a Planning & Coordination Officer, you will be responsible for the day‑to‑day planning and allocation of work to Support Workers, including rota planning and responding to changes such as sickness, annual leave and training. You will use a range of standardised IT systems to monitor resources and ensure continuity of service delivery.
You will work closely with Support Managers and other Planning & Coordination Officers to make best use of resources and ensure performance and financial information is accurate and timely, helping managers to effectively oversee budgets and service performance.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, allocate and monitor resources across Adult Social Care Provider Services
- Produce and maintain rotas and respond to changing service needs
- Use scheduling, rostering, monitoring and other council IT systems effectively
- Work in partnership with managers and colleagues to ensure efficient service delivery
- Provide day‑to‑day contact and support to frontline staff within agreed parameters
- Respond to service users in line with customer service standards and ensure follow‑up actions are completed
- Maintain accurate records to support performance and financial reporting
- Contribute to meeting national and local standards and council priorities
- Follow council policies, procedures and business continuity arrangements
What we’re looking for
- Knowledge of social care provision and customer service standards
- An understanding of dignity, equality, diversity and inclusion
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a range of people
- Experience of coordinating tasks and solving problems in a methodical way
- Confidence using IT systems, including working with rotas and resource planning
- GCSEs (or equivalent), or the ability to demonstrate the competencies required for the role

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
