We have an exciting opportunity to become a Passenger Assistant for Sheffield City Council. You will be part of a friendly team who provide an excellent standard of service and really make a difference to the lives of children with special education needs.

Your duties will be to accompany, assist and care for children with special needs on their journeys from home to school and return on a range of designated vehicles. You will be working closely with children, their parents, and carers, showing patience and understanding and be able to communicate with people from all backgrounds, making every journey a positive and enjoyable experience.

This is a part-time service, and you will work a minimum of 10 hours per week for 38 weeks per year (term time only). Salary is pro-rata to the full-time salary of £24,796 to £25,185. Actual pay for the contract hours and weeks is £5,616.49 per annum paid at £468.04 per calendar month. Extra hours are paid at £12.85 per hour.

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part-time or as a job share.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
