The Adult Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) is a dynamic approach to safeguarding at Sheffield City Council that brings partners from across statutory organisations closer together to lead on adult safeguarding. Our goal is to be a national leader in best practice for safeguarding; delivering person centred outcomes for the people we work with.

We are looking for a Social Worker to join a well-structured and organised team. Responsibilities of this role:

  • Deal with new safeguarding referrals that are received by the council, where someone is concerned about the safety or well-being of an adult, or thinks they might be at risk of harm.
  • Within the MASH, information from different agencies will be collated and used to decide what action to take. As a result, the agencies will be able to act quickly in a co-ordinated and consistent way, ensuring that adults at risk are kept safe.
  • The MASH Team constitutes representatives from the City Council, Police, Health, IDVA, Mental health, probation, housing services plus a host of other statutory and voluntary services working together virtually.
  • Good knowledge of safeguarding legislation and principles under the Care Act 2014 is key to this role.
  • Being able to effectively manage a caseload of a high level of complexity is also key, along with wider knowledge of the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, Making Safeguarding Personal principles and ensuring effective support to adults with care and support needs is sustained.
  • Good time management, record keeping, and report writing is essential.
  • A hybrid approach to working is adopted. Therefore, capability to utilise IT and virtual working systems is crucial. There is an expectation for the successful candidate to work in the office on specific set days.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
