  • Diagnose building defects and specify appropriate remedial works, with particular emphasis on damp, mould and condensation.
  • Produce high-quality written reports, including property surveys, scopes of works, specifications, HHSRS reports and product evaluations.
  • Provide technical advice, training and support to colleagues and apprentices, including safe site visit practices and visual risk assessments.

  • Liaise professionally with tenants, leaseholders, contractors, suppliers, elected members and external bodies.
  • Support the first stage of customer complaints and enquiries, including responses to elected members.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, asbestos awareness, fire safety, building regulations, planning requirements and council policies.
  • Use IT systems effectively, including handheld technology, and contribute to service improvement and business continuity planning.
  • Work flexibly across the service to meet objectives and performance targets.

  • Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Committed to equality, diversity, inclusion and high health & safety standards.
  • Willing and able to carry out site visits, including working at height and in confined spaces.

Qualifications

  • A relevant trade qualification (e.g. City & Guilds) with ONC in building construction or surveying, or equivalent practical experience demonstrating the required level of knowledge.

We value equality, diversity and inclusion and are focused on increasing the diversity of our workforce, particularly the number of Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic, Disabled and LGBTQ+ people, so that our teams reflect the communities in the city we serve.
