Beech House Vets has proudly supported the local community for over 50 years and continues to grow as a trusted, well‑established practice. We are now seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to support our team, contribute clinical leadership and help shape the next phase of our journey.
A Role Built for Clinical Confidence
This role offers a balanced and structured working week, with one dedicated surgical day and the remaining time focused primarily on consultations. Our caseload is largely cats and dogs, alongside rabbits and occasional small furries. While surgeries are generally routine, having Vets Now on site allows exposure to a wider range of cases and excellent case continuity. You will be fully supported by modern facilities including piped Isoflo anaesthesia, digital X‑ray, ultrasound, ECG with both in‑house monitoring and external interpretation, air‑driven dental equipment, and a laboratory capable of full biochemistry and haematology.
Autonomy, Mentorship and Impact
There are elements of sole charge within this role, making it ideal for a confident, experienced vet who enjoys autonomy and responsibility. You will also play a key role in supporting and developing newly qualified vets, sharing your experience while maintaining high clinical standards across the practice.
A Spacious, Well‑Equipped Environment
Beech House Vets operates from a large converted house, offering a light and welcoming reception, six consultation rooms including a dedicated RVN consult space, and a large prep and theatre area. The practice also includes a fully equipped laboratory, isolation facilities, separate cat and dog wards, quiet office space for admin, a comfortable staff room with refreshment facilities and on‑site parking.
A Working Pattern That Respects Balance
This is a full‑time role working 40 hours across four days, with a one in four Saturday morning rota from 8:15 am to 12:15 pm. There is no out‑of‑hours or on‑call work.
A Team That Values Expertise
You will be joining a team of six vets, five RVNs, two SVNs and a dedicated client care team. The practice is home to a vet with a certificate in diagnostic imaging and another working towards a certificate in small animal surgery. We are very open to supporting further qualifications.
Living and Working in Southampton
Southampton offers an excellent quality of life, combining city convenience with easy access to nature. With the New Forest and South Downs close by, plus coastal walks, sailing and green spaces on your doorstep, it’s ideal for those who enjoy the outdoors. Strong transport links, including direct trains to London, make Southampton a fantastic location.
