We are seeking a compassionate and caring chef to support our elderly residents, ensuring a safe, smooth‑running kitchen and high standards of food selection, preparation, and presentation.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe and smooth running of the kitchen, maintaining high food standards.
- Maintain a high standard of personal appearance, hygiene, and record keeping in accordance with Home policies and Environmental Health requirements.
- Responsible for all food ordering, menu selection and shrinkage/waste control.
- Keep all food storage areas clean and tidy following the Home's cleaning schedule.
- Plan a four‑week rotating balanced menu, considering seasonal foods and nutritional content, and adjust menus accordingly.
- Record residents' likes and dislikes and offer alternatives to the scheduled menu.
- Use homemade desserts and cakes.
- Order food from main suppliers, review condition, and manage budgetary control, keeping purchase records and invoices.
- Implement kitchen procedures based on “Safer Food, Better Business”.
- Ensure staff wear appropriate clothing and conduct appropriate behaviour in the kitchen.
- Maintain kitchen records up to date and compliant with Health and safety regulations.
- Act as a team member, responding to management requests for extra hours, catering for special events, or standard improvements.
- Attend staff meetings and mandatory training.
Job Duties
- Prepare all food items in a sanitary and timely manner.
- Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
- Clean and maintain station following safety and sanitation practices.
- Assist with cleaning and organization of kitchen and equipment.
