Hall School Wimbledon is seeking an exceptional leader to join our team as Head of Art and Photography.
About the role
We are seeking to appoint an exceptional Head of Art and Photography to lead a vibrant and creative department at the heart of our school. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, knowledgeable and inspiring teacher to shape the vision for Art and Photography across the secondary phase and to make a significant contribution to pupils’ creativity, cultural understanding and artistic confidence. Art and Photography play a vital role in a broad and balanced education.
We are looking for a leader with the expertise, energy and clarity to ensure that every pupil develops creative confidence, technical skill and the ability to think critically and express themselves visually. The successful candidate will combine a deep passion for their subject with a strong understanding of curriculum design, assessment, pedagogy and departmental leadership. This role would suit an experienced middle leader or an outstanding teacher ready to step into leadership.
The successful candidate will be committed to delivering excellent outcomes, developing a rich and ambitious creative curriculum, and creating a culture in which pupils are empowered, reflective and engaged in their artistic development.
Key Responsibilities
- Driving excellence in teaching and learning across Art and Photography
- Promoting high standards of creativity, technical skill and visual literacy
- Fostering confidence, originality and enjoyment in artistic practice
- Using assessment effectively to support progress, refine practice and secure strong outcomes
- Supporting pupils to become reflective, independent and thoughtful artists
- Line managing and developing members of the Art and Photography team
- Contributing to whole‑school academic and cultural development
