About the Role

As Head of History & Politics, you will:

  • Lead the strategic direction, development and daily operations of the History & Politics department.
  • Teach History at GCSE and A Level and Politics at A Level to highly motivated students.
  • Design and deliver engaging, intellectually ambitious lessons that inspire independent thinking and informed debate.
  • Champion modern, research‑informed pedagogy and digital learning approaches.
  • Oversee curriculum planning, assessment, tracking and departmental quality assurance.
  • Support, mentor and develop colleagues across the department, fostering collaboration and reflective practice.
  • Enrich the wider school experience through trips, clubs, academic events and co‑curricular opportunities such as debating, historical societies or political forums.
  • Contribute fully to the pastoral life of the school and embody our values of curiosity, respect and ambition.
