About the role
We are seeking to appoint an exceptional Head of Modern Foreign Languages to lead on the languages curriculum at the heart of our school. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, knowledgeable and inspiring teacher to shape the vision for Modern Foreign Languages across the secondary phase, with French as the core language of the department. The ability to teach Spanish would be welcomed as the department continues to develop – initially as an enrichment option.
Modern Foreign Languages play a vital role in a broad and balanced education. We are looking for a leader with the expertise, energy and clarity to ensure that every pupil develops linguistic confidence, cultural understanding and strong communication skills, alongside a genuine appreciation of the value of languages in the modern world. The successful candidate will combine a deep passion for language learning with a strong understanding of curriculum design, assessment, pedagogy and departmental leadership. This role would suit an outstanding teacher ready to step into leadership. Applications from candidates with strong experience teaching French are encouraged.
