About the Role

  • Take responsibility for the planning, delivery and development of mathematics across the senior school.
  • Secure high standards of teaching, learning and assessment in line with school policies and procedures.
  • As the lead specialist teacher of mathematics, the postholder will work closely with senior leaders to drive standards, monitor progress and contribute to the school’s wider improvement strategy.
  • Help create a calm, safe, and structured environment that promotes confidence, independence, and learning.

About You

  • Strong subject knowledge and high-quality classroom practice.
  • Confidence to lead a subject area independently and take ownership of curriculum and outcomes.
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Strong assessment, tracking and organisational skills.
  • Effective communication skills with pupils, parents and colleagues.
  • Ability to reflect on practice and implement positive change.
  • Experience of teaching mathematics at Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Experience of preparing pupils for GCSE Mathematics.
  • Evidence of securing good pupil progress and examination outcome.
  • A good honours degree in Mathematics or a closely related subject.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
