The successful candidate will have the knowledge, dynamism, motivation and commitment to work with the existing team to develop pupils’ understanding, confidence and success in mathematics.
About the Role
- Take responsibility for the planning, delivery and development of mathematics across the senior school.
- Secure high standards of teaching, learning and assessment in line with school policies and procedures.
- As the lead specialist teacher of mathematics, the postholder will work closely with senior leaders to drive standards, monitor progress and contribute to the school’s wider improvement strategy.
- Help create a calm, safe, and structured environment that promotes confidence, independence, and learning.
About You
- Strong subject knowledge and high-quality classroom practice.
- Confidence to lead a subject area independently and take ownership of curriculum and outcomes.
- Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Strong assessment, tracking and organisational skills.
- Effective communication skills with pupils, parents and colleagues.
- Ability to reflect on practice and implement positive change.
- Experience of teaching mathematics at Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Experience of preparing pupils for GCSE Mathematics.
- Evidence of securing good pupil progress and examination outcome.
- A good honours degree in Mathematics or a closely related subject.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
