Role

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will take ownership of mechanical building services design projects from concept through to completion, working closely with clients, architects and fellow engineers.

You will enjoy a varied workload across multiple sectors while taking an active role in client relationships, technical delivery and project leadership.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Leading the mechanical design of building services projects.
  • Managing project delivery from feasibility through construction.
  • Acting as Project Lead on selected commissions.
  • Producing and reviewing mechanical calculations, specifications and technical reports.
  • Attending design meetings and presenting directly to clients.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Helping develop long-term client relationships and generate repeat business.
  • Delivering innovative, sustainable engineering solutions across a wide range of projects.

Requirements

We’re looking for an ambitious Mechanical Building Services Engineer who enjoys technical design, client interaction and taking ownership of projects.

Ideally you will have

  • Degree, HNC or HND in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
  • Around 4+ years’ experience within a Building Services consultancy.
  • Experience designing mechanical systems across a range of building sectors.
  • Working knowledge of UK Building Regulations and relevant British Standards.
  • Experience using industry-standard design software including Revit and associated mechanical design packages.
  • An understanding of sustainable building design, renewable technologies and low‑carbon solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
  • Working towards, or already holding, Chartered Engineer status through CIBSE or IMech E.
