The Client: Multi-disciplinary Building Services consultant founded in 1997 offering the full range of MEP services nationwide from their 4 UK offices. Senior staff drive projects from feasibility through to delivery across sectors like data centres, retail outlets, care homes, schools, and offices.
The Role: Providing design and technical advice on projects, delivering a professional consulting and design service that includes site surveys, meetings, feasibility studies, due diligence, design, technical reports, specifications, commissioning, and defects inspections. Assist with multiple projects, meeting deadlines and budget requirements. Work under guidance, interpret project needs, and lead smaller projects as needed.
- Coordinate with all design team members, internal and external, ensuring excellent client care and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
- Understand project scope and limitations based on the appointment briefing.
- Be aware of project costs, monitor design impact on the budget, and manage time effectively.
- Take ownership of your workload to meet deadlines and deliverables.
- Represent the discipline in meetings and communicate effectively with project teams and clients.
- Arrange and conduct site surveys, preparing reports as needed.
- Demonstrate strong technical and report writing skills.
- Address site queries related to your discipline and report to clients or senior team members.
- Perform condition surveys and compile reports for clients.
- Contribute to feasibility studies for projects.
- Produce designs, calculations, data sheets, equipment schedules, and specifications, coordinating with CAD department.
- Understand project risks and produce residual risk reports per CDM regulations, collaborating with other disciplines.
- Promote sustainability and energy efficiency in designs and recommendations.
- Conduct defects inspections, snagging, and assist with commissioning oversight.
- Ensure work compliance with good practice and project brief, raising concerns or variations as needed.
- Review as-fitted drawings and O&M documents.
- Provide excellent client care, support business development, and seek opportunities for repeat work and improvement.
