Our client, established in 2002, is an independent Mechanical & Electrical design consultancy that provides the full range of MEP Building Services from 2 locations in Berkshire and London. The Senior leadership team are actively involved in day-to-day client delivery, and the entire team’s professional and personable approach focuses on offering clients first-class solutions and bespoke services. Boasting an impressive client list in the hospitality, commercial, finance, retail, and residential sectors, the company operates on projects across the UK, Ireland, and Mainland Europe. They have built strong teams that operate in a collaborative atmosphere by recruiting technically sound engineers with a passion for excellence and giving them autonomy, responsibility, and support. They are now looking to bring additional expertise to the mechanical team with the appointment of a Senior/Principal Mechanical Engineer.
The main responsibilities are in the areas of project delivery. You should be able to prepare calculations/specifications and drawings, collaborate with other disciplines, provide technical expertise, provide support to less experienced engineers, ensure quality standards are maintained, and adopt and promote the company ethos.
Role Overview: This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days in the office. The contract is a 6 month duration and it has the potential to become a permanent position. The Digital Delivery Specialist is responsible for all BIM-related services and conducts the main BIM quality check review. The BIM Coordinator serves as the main contact for all BIM matters within the project team. This role acts as the interface between the Discipline BIM Lead(s), Design Team Leads, and the Digital Delivery Manager. Responsibilities also include providing models coordination of individual discipline(s), coordinating with discipline BIM leads and across trades, reviewing services, maintaining task lists, updating BIM issues identified during model coordination, and organizing the communication strategy necessary for this purpose.
Main Responsibilities:
- Maintaining and updating BIM Execution Plan (BEP) in collaboration with the Digital Delivery Manager, Client, and BIM project stakeholders.
- Implementation of BIM methodology in the project according to the Project's BIM requirements, BEP and in line with ISO 19650 standards.
- Regular, comprehensive review of model quality and compliance with BIM requirements established in the BIM Manual/Standards.
- Regular preparation of quality check reports and status reports based on the BIM data transfer.
- Conceptualizing and implementing project-specific training as needed.
- Organizing, initiating, and documenting BIM meetings.
- Organizing test runs to validate model contents.
- BIM coordination and management for complete BIM implementation in the project.
- Managing and updating BIM issues on the BIM collaboration platform.
- Serving as an interface and maintaining ongoing coordination between the Digital Delivery Manager and Discipline BIM Leads.
- Ensuring timely and complete delivery of BIM services.
- Developing BIM models and maintaining model coordination space within the ACC.
- Initial BIM model set-up for new projects.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of BIM experience in the architectural, engineering, consulting or construction industry.
- The candidate should have an appreciation for design across multiple disciplines in building industry.
- Understands traditional project deliverables and ISO19650 standards/project delivery.
- Understands digital delivery software and standards.
- Must have good knowledge in Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), REVIT and NAVIS.
- Ability to integrate multiple BIM models across various software platforms.
- Expert facilitation, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead and manage.
- Excellent planning and analytical skills.
- Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
- Ability to execute and integrate detail design projects up to construction.
- Possess analytical skills and should be able to multi-task by implementing proper delegation in a team environment.
Health & Safety: Ensure adherence to H&S standards and requirements at all times and ensure that all activities are performed in a safe manner. Demonstrate a sound understanding of the CDM Regulations and their implementation when carrying out all duties. Be able to formulate design risk assessments relating to Public Health services from inception through each design stage. Use and maintain appropriate PPE. Report all accidents/incidents or near misses.
Quality Assurance: Ensure the relevant QA procedures are followed. Maintain, develop and retain the highest appropriate standard of technical skill. Ensure the project work complies with the Project Management Plan and Programme.
Technical: Demonstrate an understanding of BSRIA BG6 2018, RIBA stages, Part L, BREEAM, renewable technologies and soft landings, and their implications to each stage of the Public Health design process. Demonstrate a reasonable understanding of other MEP engineering disciplines, other than your own, sufficient to understand their impact in the overall design, and converse at a reasonable level. Develop ability to use AutoCAD and Revit. Undertake Continual Professional Development by reading technical journals, attending relevant IEE/CIBSE technical seminars from time to time and attending in house seminars aimed at increasing technical and operational knowledge.
Financial: Develop understanding of project costing principles and control changes during project development. May on occasion assist with preparation of fee proposals. Maintain required level of utilisation and complete timesheet on a weekly basis. Keep line manager up to date with progress against deliverables and identify where and why time deadlines cannot be met. Utilise Union Square to populate project information, manage resource, include financial information and monitor progress relating the Public Health Design.
Project Interface: Attend design team and client meetings, on occasion as the company’s only representative. Liaise with clients and others to obtain technical and operational information relating to the projects. Keep project documentation up-to-date and comply with file management protocols.
