The Advanced tech assists the Registered Nurse in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for those patients for whom they are responsible. Responsibilities Under direction of the RN provides direct patient care utilizing patient plan of care. Clinical skills: The care may include, but is not limited to, the following: Obtaining and recording in the EHR: blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and pulse oximetry Drawing blood, performing EKGs, and transporting patients Obtaining urine and stool specimens, performing point of care testing, and assisting with ED procedures Measuring and assisting in applying sling, cervical collar, splints, and crutches Bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, ambulating, transferring, feeding Observing, and reporting the general well-being of the person(s) to whom they are providing care Documentation of patient reassessments accurately and correctly within specific time Reassessing patient safety facts and identifying those patients requiring special safety devices Reporting test results as required to RN, notifying MD in a timely manner of abnormal results Reassessing educational needs of pt/significant other and providing appropriate written and verbal instruction Transcription of orders Other duties per licensure Qualifications Minimum one year Emergency Department or Critical Care experience Competencies Skills Clear Communication Skills Both Written And Verbal Able To Keep Confidential Information Regarding Patients, Team Members Able To Withstand Crisis Situations Skills To Provide Customer Service To Patients, Team Members And Visitors Knowledge And Experience With Electronic Health Records Credentials BLS – Basic Life Saving Certification PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support (preferred) Education LPN or NREMT-P (Nationally Registered Paramedic) Entry USD $24.62/Hr.
