Site Manager – HV Substation Installation

Scunthorpe, DN15 £280 per shift Freelance Approximately 5 weeks Start date: Monday 27 July 2026

We are looking for an experienced Site Manager to oversee the installation of a new electrical substation and associated high-voltage connection works on a project in Scunthorpe.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the site, ensuring the works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with the agreed programme.

Responsibilities

  • Managing daily site activities and coordinating subcontractors
  • Overseeing substation installation and associated HV connection works
  • Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with RAMS and site safety procedures
  • Conducting site inductions, toolbox talks and daily briefings
  • Monitoring progress against the project programme
  • Maintaining accurate site records, reports and photographic updates
  • Coordinating deliveries, plant and access requirements
  • Liaising with the Project Manager, contractors and client representatives
  • Maintaining high standards of health, safety, quality and housekeeping
  • Identifying and escalating potential delays or site issues

Essential Requirements

  • Valid SMSTS certificate
  • Valid First Aid at Work certificate
  • Valid CSCS card
  • Fire Marshal or Fire Warden qualification
  • Previous experience managing civil engineering, utilities or electrical infrastructure projects
  • Experience working around HV installations, substations or electrical connection works
  • Strong health and safety knowledge
  • Confident managing subcontractors and producing daily site documentation
  • Available to start on Monday 27 July 2026

Previous experience managing EV charging, renewable energy, utilities or high-voltage infrastructure projects would be advantageous.

This is a freelance position expected to last approximately five weeks, paying £280 per shift
