We are looking to recruit an experienced Receptionist to helpsupport our friendly team. We are a large, busy GP surgery serving over 21,500 patients.

Overtime for holiday and sickness cover is a contractual requirement, and the responsibility is shared between all receptionists. Overtime may be required between the hours of 7:45am and 6:30pm Monday to Friday.

This position is contracted to 22.5 hours per week, and the shifts will fall between the hours of 7:45am and 6:30pm Monday- Friday.

Main duties of the job

The purpose of the role is to:

Answer our busy telephone lines in a timely manner

Book appointments for patients and check patientsin for appointments.

Process requests for Prescriptions.

Provide patients with non-urgent test results.

Deal with queries, directing patients to theappropriate person if required.

Facilitate communication to Doctors, Nurses and the Practice Management team.

Act as front-of-house, providing a helpful serviceto patients and other visitors.

About us

Bedworth Health Centre is the largest GP practicein North Warwickshire with a patient list size of over 21,500 patients. Youwould be joining a very supportive team of 16 receptionists and you will reportto the Reception Team Lead and the Practice Managers.

Job responsibilities

The role is varied, a few of the duties are listedbut this is not exhaustive:

Opening up/locking-up of Practice premises and maintaining security.

Using the Practice\'s clinical computer system to manage the appointmentsystem, process prescriptions and provide routine test results.

Working on the Reception desks: booking patient appointments andchecking them in for appointments, processing prescriptions, providing routinetest results, providing information and handling a wide variety of enquiries.

Working on the Appointments / Results telephone line: booking,cancelling and changing appointments, providing routine test results, directingcalls to the appropriate person and handling a wide variety of enquiries.

Working in the Prescriptions department: processing hand delivered andelectronic requests for prescriptions, resolving telephone prescriptionqueries, liaising with chemists and handling a wide variety of enquiries.

Taking comprehensive messages and passing them on to the appropriateperson.

Ensuring accurate information is entered into patients notes.

Reading and responding to prescription e-mails.

Processing and distributing incoming (and outgoing) mail

Keeping the reception area, notice-boards and leaflet dispensers tidyand free from obstructions and clutter

Coding entries on Practices clinical computer system.

Filing of patient paper notes.

Providing support to Senior Administrators with a wide variety of taskssuch as Registrations and Recall Systems.

Any other duties as andwhen deemed necessary by the Practice Management team

Person Specification

Experience

  • Experience of answering the telephone and working on a Reception desk in a demanding and busy organisation.
  • Experience of working in a public-facing, customer service based setting.

Qualifications

  • Experience of working in a public facing role.
  • Flexibility to work around the needs of the Practice - being prepared to change hours at short notice on occasion.
  • To provide cover within the team for annual leave or holidays, as required.
