Senior Children's Residential Care Worker
Salary: £35,731.88 per annum, increasing to £37,399.38 per annum on 1st August 2026.
About the role
Work in a children's residential home with an age range of 8‑18 years, providing a loving and caring environment. You will build positive relationships with children, while ensuring their safety, well‑being and maintaining dignity, kindness and respect. You will be actively involved in safeguarding, risk assessment and management, and in the delivery of individualized care plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct support and care for children in a residential setting, ensuring their safety and well‑being.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to each child’s needs.
- Maintain open communication with children, families, and team members to foster a supportive environment.
- Drive children to appointments and activities as needed, ensuring timely arrivals.
- Document progress and incidents accurately, utilizing IT systems for record‑keeping.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance the quality of care provided.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare or equivalent qualification.
- Experience working with children in a residential setting.
- UK valid driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use.
- Willingness to work shift patterns, including weekends and sleep‑ins; shift times 2:30pm‑10:30pm/7:00am‑3:00pm.
- Full driving licence with business insurance; access to a vehicle for work purposes.
- Able to form positive relationships with children based on respect and openness, with an awareness of safeguarding and risk management.
Working patterns and location
Four‑week rolling rota; sleeps are 8 across full‑time rota and 6 for part‑time. Rotas include weekends and sleep‑ins. Shifts: 2:30pm‑10:30pm or 7:00am‑3:00pm. Hybrid: Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester offices.
Other details
This role involves direct work with children and is therefore exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
