Support People Towards Independent Living – Join Our Liverpool Team

About the Role

Our support workers, based within our family and single adult services, provide personalised 1:1 support to individuals and families preparing to move into long-term, independent housing. Rewarding role supporting people in Bedspace properties to transition into secure housing. Multi‑agency work across Liverpool. You’ll deliver structured independence sessions focused on building essential life skills — such as budgeting, property maintenance, accessing employment or education, and applying for housing. These sessions are tailored to each person’s individual strengths, needs, and goals. You’ll be supporting people currently living in Bedspace‑managed temporary accommodation across the Liverpool region. The role involves close partnership working with Liverpool City Council, local authorities, and housing systems like Property Pool Plus to help people take the next step towards a stable home. Due to the travel required, a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use is essential.

About You

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of individuals and families, supporting them in Bedspace accommodation across the Liverpool region
  • Deliver practical support focused on developing independent living skills
  • Liaise with key agencies including Social Workers, healthcare professionals, DWP, the Police, and housing platforms like Property Pool Plus
  • Carry out weekly property checks and ensure living environments remain safe, clean, and suitable
  • Promote physical and emotional wellbeing, and de‑escalate challenging behaviour when required
  • Support access to work, education, or training
  • Signpost to appropriate support services, including mental health, substance misuse, or domestic abuse services
  • Keep clear, professional records and write reports assessing progress and support needs

Requirements

  • Experience supporting (not caring for) individuals or families to gain independence
  • Good knowledge of safeguarding for adults and children
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (insured for business use)
  • Willing to travel across the Liverpool region
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or willingness to complete)
  • Confident IT user with working knowledge of Microsoft 365
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently
