About the role

You will work in the residential home providing a loving and caring environment to children aged 8–18 years. Working with a close‑knit team, you will be supported every step of the way by our dedicated professionals and contribute to a culture that treats each child with understanding, dignity, kindness and respect.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support and care for children in a residential setting, ensuring their safety and well‑being.
  • Develop and implement individualised care plans tailored to each child’s needs.
  • Maintain open communication with children, families and team members to foster a supportive environment.
  • Drive children to appointments and activities as needed, ensuring timely arrivals.
  • Document progress and any incidents accurately, utilising IT systems for record‑keeping.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance the quality of care provided.
  • Form positive relationships with children based on respect and openness.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children in a residential setting.
  • Awareness of safeguarding from harm and the ability to assess and manage risk.
  • Ideally a Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare or equivalent qualification.
  • Aged 21 and over due to industry regulations.
  • Full UK valid driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use.

Salary & Working Hours

  • Full Time 37.5 Hours – Salary is £33,674.88 per annum inclusive of sleeps.
  • Part Time 24 Hours – Salary is £21,247.82 per annum inclusive of sleeps.
  • Shift Pattern Includes weekends and sleep‑ins.
  • 4‑week rolling rota; sleeps are 8 across the rota for full‑time staff and 6 for part‑time workers.
  • Shifts are typically 2:30pm‑10:30pm / 7:00am‑3:00pm.

We carry out comprehensive vetting checks—including an Enhanced DBS and employment references—to ensure all appointed individuals are suitable to work with the people we support. References will be requested for all positions involving work with children or vulnerable adults. You must also provide a full employment history in your CV, with clear explanations for any gaps. This role involves direct work with children and is therefore exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Bedspace is currently unable to offer sponsorship for this role.
