As a Bank Residential Childcare Worker at Bedspace, you'll provide high-quality care and support to children and young people living in our residential homes. You'll play a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing, and stable environment where children can feel valued, build trusting relationships, and achieve positive outcomes. No two days are the same. You'll support children with their daily routines, encourage their education and personal development, promote positive behaviour, and help them develop the confidence and life skills they need for the future.
Working alongside a dedicated team, you'll ensure each child receives individualised care in line with their care plans while maintaining a warm, supportive home environment. This is a bank (casual) role, offering flexible shifts across our residential children's homes. Shifts are offered on an as-needed basis to meet service demand and include days, evenings, weekends, waking nights, and sleep‑in duties where required. Please note that holiday pay is included within the hourly rate.
A full UK driving licence is essential, as you may be required to transport young people to appointments, education, and recreational activities.

Requirements
- Experience working with children and young people in a residential childcare or social care setting is desirable.
- A good understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and promoting the welfare of children.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and resilient in challenging situations.
- Computer literate, with the ability to complete care records and administrative tasks accurately.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, waking nights, bank holidays, and sleep‑ins.
- Must have the legal right to work in the UK.
- Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
- Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle insured for business use.
Additional Information
This role involves direct work with children and is therefore exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Please note that Bedspace is currently unable to offer sponsorship for this role. Salary: £35,731.88 per annum inclusive of sleep rate.
