Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Automotive Technician role based in Barton-Le-Clay. The Automotive Technician will diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, perform routine servicing, and carry out repairs on a variety of vehicles, with a particular focus on automatic transmission systems. Responsibilities include conducting inspections, troubleshooting faults, replacing or repairing parts, and ensuring all work meets safety and quality standards. The role also involves maintaining accurate service records, using diagnostic tools and equipment effectively, and communicating clearly with service advisors and customers about vehicle condition and recommended work. The technician will follow workshop procedures, keep the work area organized, and collaborate with the team to meet service deadlines.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of automotive systems, including engines, transmissions, braking, and electrical components.
- Proficiency in diagnosing faults using modern diagnostic tools and interpreting technical data and service manuals.
- Experience performing routine maintenance, repairs, and component replacements in a workshop setting.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations and ability to work safely with tools, lifts, and equipment.
- Relevant vocational training or certification in automotive technology or vehicle maintenance.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain high standards of workmanship.
- Clear communication skills for collaborating with colleagues and explaining technical issues to customers.
- Previous experience working with automatic transmissions or a strong interest in developing expertise in this area.
- Full, valid driver’s license and eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.
