Job Description:

Anticipated vacancies – Training Delivery Instructors (Crew Manager)

There are a number of anticipated substantive vacancies at Service Training and Development Centre over the next 12-18 months at Crew Manager Level.

Focused on high quality training support for operational response, the Instructor team is responsible for the delivery of the Service &©s safety critical training and assessment programme.

Expressions of interest are invited now from those seeking to join a high performing team to deliver training to all operational staff across the service that meet the following criteria:

  • Firefighters (competent) on the Wholetime Duty System;
  • Crew Manager (development and competent) on the Whole time Duty System

Expressions of interest will be welcomed from those wishing to transfer at their existing role, but anyone looking to join in the role above on promotion will need go through the next upcoming Service promotion gateway process and enter the relevant talent pool to be eligible for substantive promotion. Therefore, it is recommended that interested candidates begin preparing for the promotion gateway process at time of expressing interest in joining Training and Development Centre.

The safety critical training and assessment programme covers a wide range of activities and interested personnel are encouraged to contact members of T&DC to discuss this opportunity to gain a full understanding of the work of the Instructor team.

Crew Manager posts are conditioned to the 9 day fortnight instructor rota and other than for reasons of promotion, applicants must be willing to serve within the post for a minimum period of three years. The Training Delivery Instructor (CM) job description is available on Sharepoint.

Successful applicants at shortlisting will be invited to attend a post specific interview.

Candidates who have a live disciplinary sanction for either Attendance or Conduct at the time of application closing date will not normally be eligible to engage in the selection process. Candidates pending the outcome of a disciplinary matter will not normally be eligible for appointment until the outcome is known. (Exceptions may be made in instances where extenuating circumstances apply).
