We wish to appoint a Teacher of Religious Studies for September 2026 or January 2027. The successful candidate will have a genuine passion for the subject, a desire to inspire this in others and will be eager to develop their own teaching skills across Year 9, GCSE, A-Level and university preparation.
The Religious Studies department at Bedford has a strong academic focus, with a good record of university uptake including Oxbridge and strong A‑Level results. The role may be suitable for an early‑career teacher, a suitably qualified graduate starting out, or a more experienced teacher looking to broaden their experience.
Responsibilities
- Teach Religious Studies to Year 9, GCSE, A‑Level and university preparation classes
- Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans and assessments that support the school’s academic ethos
- Facilitate the continued central role of Religious Studies within the school’s curriculum
Qualifications
- Essential: willingness and enthusiasm to support Religious Studies as a core subject
- Desirable: ability to teach Religious Studies, Politics and History
- Desirable: experience of GCSE and A‑Level qualifications
- Experience in the independent sector or a boarding environment is not essential but welcomed

The selection process will involve a lesson observation, a tour of the school and interviews.
