Bedford Modern School (BMS) is a thriving HMC independent co-educational day school for students aged 7-18. Our community is a friendly, happy and supportive one and all of the 350 staff members, spanning both teaching and non-teaching roles, helping to make BMS a very special place to work.
Bedford Modern School (BMS) is seeking a motivated and experienced Head of Football to lead and develop its football programme within a strong and successful Sport & Physical Education Faculty. The faculty comprises 12 teaching staff and up to 20 specialist coaches, delivering PE, Games and sport across both the Junior and Senior Schools. Football is a key part of the school's sporting provision, offering students opportunities for participation, development, and competitive representation. BMS benefits from excellent sporting facilities, including a fully floodlit AstroTurf pitch, modern fitness suite and a refurbished sports hall. Alongside curriculum PE and Games, the department oversees a busy co-curricular programme of over 30 physical activities, with strong uptake in GCSE and A Level Physical Education.
The role involves leading all aspects of the football programme, supporting staff and students, developing clear player pathways and contributing to the school's competitive interschool fixture programme. Flexibility is required to support wider sports activities and events, ensuring an inclusive and engaging sporting offer.
