About this Role
Required for January 2027
Casual hours, as and when required
Bedford Modern School (BMS) is a thriving HMC independent co-educational day school for students aged 7-18. Our community is a friendly, happy and supportive one and all of the 350 staff members, spanning both teaching and non-teaching roles, helping to make BMS a very special place to work.
We are looking to add to our pool of Exam Invigilators who will be responsible for supervising students sitting examinations throughout the school year. The hours are varied and would ideally suit applicants looking to work flexibly in line with the School Exam Timetable.
Successful applicants will be confident and able to provide a reassuring presence whilst playing a key role in upholding the integrity of the examination process. As well as being in the examination hall, you will be expected to perform duties prior to and following on from the actual exams, such as ensuring the exam papers are handled in accordance with the relevant awarding body regulations.
Experience is not essential as full training will be provided. A Training Day will be held which we would expect successful applicants to attend.
We encourage applications from all communities as we want to have a workforce that reflects the social, cultural, and ethnic diversity of our students.
Closing Date: 30 October 2026
Interview Date: 6 November 2026
Please note, we reserve the right to close the vacancy early should we receive a sufficient number of suitable applicants.
Should you wish to discuss the role further, please contact [email protected]
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). We may carry out online searches on shortlisted applicants.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. The school is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions on a self-declaration form in advance of attending an interview. The Harpur Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
The successful applicant will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check, references, and other relevant checks.
