The Position
We are seeking a Night Supervisor to lead overnight operations and ensure a smooth, safe, and professional service throughout the night. This role builds on the traditional Night Porter position by adding leadership, decision-making, and operational responsibility. The Night Supervisor will act as the senior point of contact on site overnight, supporting guests, managing the night team, and ensuring all procedures, standards, and safety requirements are met.
Job Responsibilities
- Ensure the smooth running of the property during overnight hours
- Conduct regular checks of all public areas, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and presentation standards
- Complete night audit procedures and maintain accurate records
- Handle guest arrivals, departures, and requests efficiently
- Monitor security systems and respond to alarms or incidents
- Lead and supervise the night team, providing direction and support throughout the shift
- Act as the manager on duty overnight, making decisions in the absence of senior management
- Ensure all team members follow company standards, policies, and procedures
- Support training and onboarding of new night staff
- Manage shift handovers, ensuring clear communication with day teams
- Address and resolve any staff or guest issues professionally and promptly
- Deliver exceptional customer service at all times
- Handle guest complaints or concerns confidently, escalating where necessary
- Ensure a welcoming and safe environment for all guests
- Take responsibility for the safety and security of the building overnight
- Conduct fire safety checks and ensure compliance with emergency procedures
- Respond effectively to emergencies, incidents, or disturbances
- Maintain incident logs and report any issues to senior management
- Prepare reports for management (incident reports, night audit summaries, etc.)
- Ensure accurate completion of all required documentation
- Manage any late-night bookings, billing, or cash handling
About You
You will bring:
- Previous experience in a night supervisory role preferable with proven ability to lead and supervise a small team
- A positive attitude with excellent communication skills
- A smart and professional appearance
- Computer literacy
- Cash handling experience
- Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
- Previous Bar experience is desirable but not essential
- Proactive and able to take initiative
- Professional and approachable
- Strong attention to detail
- Flexibility with working hours, including weekend and bank holidays
- Ability to work independently and remain calm under pressure
