The Team

Our ‘Squires’ Restaurant provides a completely modern dining experience. Our eclectic menus attract a wide and travelled clientele, using only the finest seasonal ingredients and wherever possible sourcing all our products locally. Alongside this, a very busy bar and Conference & Events business, with private dinners, conference lunches and Weddings.

The Position

We are seeking a passionate and motivated Commis Chef to join our kitchen team at our 2 AA Rosette Squires Restaurant at Bedford Lodge Hotel. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring chef to develop their skills in a high-quality culinary environment, working alongside experienced chefs dedicated to delivering exceptional food and service. As a Commis Chef, you will support the kitchen brigade in the preparation and presentation of fresh, seasonal dishes to the highest standards. You will gain hands-on experience across various sections of the kitchen while maintaining excellent food hygiene, organisation, and attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have a genuine enthusiasm for food, a willingness to learn, and the drive to progress within a professional hospitality setting.

About You

  • Experience of cooking fresh dishes to a high standard.
  • Passion, creative flair and fresh ideas, with an eagerness to learn and develop.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused on quality during busy service.
  • A strong team work ethic.
  • Ideally with experience within a 4- or 5-star hotel property.
  • Food & Hygiene Certificate required (valid within last 3 years).
