Location: Tresham College – Kettering Campus

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 45 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses. Note – Salary and annual leave entitlement is for that of a Qualified Lecturer.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About the role: We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Art and Design to join our Creative Arts department at The Bedford College Group. As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Art & Design Teaching & Industry Expertise – Deliver high‑quality teaching across Art & Design programmes (Levels 1–3), applying strong subject knowledge and industry experience, including concept generation.
  • Curriculum Delivery, Planning & Innovation – Develop schemes of work and engaging learning materials, contributing to curriculum development and innovative teaching that meets awarding body requirements.
  • Assessment, Progress & Quality Assurance – Assess, verify and monitor learner work and progress, maintain accurate records and meet quality assurance and deadline requirements.
  • Learner Support, Inclusion & Wellbeing – Provide tutorials and tailored support, particularly for Level 1–2 learners, promoting engagement, positive behaviour, mental health awareness and inclusive learning environments.
  • Professional Practice & College Contribution – Contribute to marketing, recruitment and enrichment activities, collaborate with colleagues, and uphold safeguarding, EDI, health & safety and CPD standards.

About you:

  • Qualifications & Creative Teaching Expertise – Degree in a creative subject with PGCE, supported by recent experience teaching and assessing across Levels 1–3 and commitment to achieving assessor/verifier qualifications.
  • Teaching, Assessment & Learner Progression – Proven ability to deliver high‑quality teaching and assessment, support diverse learners (including those with mental health needs) and drive positive outcomes across programmes.
  • Curriculum Knowledge & Inclusive Practice – Up‑to‑date knowledge of subject developments, with strong commitment to equality, diversity and creating inclusive, supportive learning environments.
  • Communication, Organisation & Collaboration – Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, able to meet deadlines, build effective relationships across college and communicate confidently with all stakeholders.
  • Professional Values, Safeguarding & Development – Dedicated to safeguarding, professional boundaries and continuous development, with a flexible approach to work and commitment to delivering a consistently high‑quality student experience.
