We are currently seeking a Teaching Assistant (Level 2) to join our Hair and Beauty department at The Bedford College Group.
- Learner Support & Inclusive Practice: Provide tailored educational, personal and social support to students, including those with additional needs, promoting inclusion and helping learners fully engage in activities.
- Curriculum & Classroom Assistance: Support delivery across vocational areas (Hair & Beauty, Hospitality, Animal Studies, Travel & Tourism), prepare learning resources and provide class cover when required.
- Student Supervision & Engagement: Assist with college visits, supervise students appropriately and contribute to a safe, positive and supportive learning environment.
- Teamwork, Administration & Professional Practice: Work collaboratively within a professional team, attend meetings, support college operations and maintain confidentiality and accurate communication.
- Compliance, Safeguarding & Development: Uphold safeguarding, EDI and health & safety standards, participate in training and CPD, and contribute flexibly to meet departmental and college priorities.
About you
- Qualifications & Development Potential: Hold a relevant Level 3 qualification with GCSE English and maths (Grade 4+), with a strong willingness to undertake further training (e.g. MIDAS, First Aid, Fire Marshal).
- Teaching & Learner Support Experience: Experience supporting teaching and learning for 16+ or adult learners, following lesson plans and helping students achieve learning objectives.
- Classroom Management & Engagement: Confident in managing behaviour, promoting engagement and maintaining a positive, inclusive learning environment for diverse learners.
- Communication, IT & Teamwork: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with basic IT proficiency (Microsoft Office, VLEs), able to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Professional Values & Personal Attributes: Reliable, punctual and adaptable, calm under pressure, empathetic and student-focused, with a firm commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
