Location: Bedford College – Cauldwell Street Campus

Salary and Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum DOE and qualifications, plus a market supplement of up to £10,000 per annum. 45 days annual leave plus bank holidays. Hours and Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year.

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time. Right to work in the UK required. No sponsorship. Evidence of right to work required.

About the role: We are currently seeking a Technical Lecturer in Brickwork to join our Construction department at The Bedford College Group.

  • Teaching, Learning & Student Achievement: Deliver high-quality teaching, assessment and verification across a range of programmes and levels, supporting learners to achieve success and realise their full potential.
  • Curriculum Planning & Innovation: Develop up-to-date schemes of work and engaging learning materials, contributing proactively to curriculum development and innovative teaching practice.
  • Assessment, Progress & Quality Assurance: Monitor and track learner progress, provide timely feedback, meet awarding body standards and contribute to internal quality assurance and course review processes.
  • Learner Support, Tutorials & Enrichment: Provide effective tutorial support, promote positive behaviour and enhance learning through employer engagement, work experience and enrichment opportunities.
  • Leadership, Collaboration & Professional Practice: Support curriculum leadership, mentor staff, contribute to course management and recruitment activities, and uphold safeguarding, EDI, health & safety and CPD standards.

About you:

  • Qualifications & Construction Expertise: Level 3 qualification in Bricklaying with a teaching qualification (Level 3 Education & Training), supported by industry experience or FE teaching background and strong knowledge of construction developments.
  • Teaching, Learning & Student Experience: Ability to deliver high-quality teaching and practical training, creating engaging environments that support learner achievement and progression.
  • Workshop Management & Health & Safety: Ensure safe and compliant operation of workshops, maintaining equipment and adhering to current health and safety regulations within construction settings.
  • Communication, Organisation & Teamwork: Strong organisational and interpersonal skills, able to meet deadlines, build effective relationships across the College and contribute positively to team performance.
