Salary & Benefits: Salary is between £27,717 and £32,515 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays, People’s Pension, retail and leisure discounts, and excellent professional and personal development opportunities, including access to college courses.
Hours & Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

About the Role: We are currently seeking an ALS Advisor to join our Foundation Learning & Additional Learning Support department at The Bedford College Group.
Responsibilities:
- SEND Support Planning & Review: Develop and implement individual support plans for students with SEND, regularly reviewing and adapting strategies to ensure effective outcomes.
- Staff Guidance & Inclusive Practice: Advise and support curriculum staff on SEND needs and inclusive strategies, ensuring consistent and effective classroom implementation.
- Student Mentoring & Development: Provide targeted mentoring and guidance to students, building confidence, independence, and engagement in learning.
- Quality Monitoring & Collaboration: Conduct classroom observations, build strong relationships with staff and students, and promote continuous improvement in inclusive practice.
- Promotion & Compliance: Represent the College at events, maintain knowledge of SEND processes, and uphold safeguarding, EDI, health & safety, and professional development standards.
Qualifications:
- Qualifications & Knowledge: Level 2 Maths and English with a relevant Level 3 qualification (or willingness) and strong knowledge of SEND Code of Practice, safeguarding, and post‑16 education.
- SEND & Educational Experience: Experience supporting young people with a range of additional needs in educational settings, including working with curriculum teams and external agencies.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to communicate with students, staff, parents, and external partners, building positive relationships and delivering clear guidance and support.
- Organisation & Technical Skills: Highly organised with strong IT and administrative skills, able to produce professional reports, manage workloads, and maintain confidentiality and data protection.
- Professionalism & Flexibility: Positive, adaptable approach with the ability to work independently and collaboratively, travel across sites, and uphold safeguarding responsibilities and professional boundaries.
