About the Role
As a SEND Emotional Support Facilitator you will support students through mentorship, activities, collaboration with curriculum teams, record keeping, and college‑wide responsibilities.
- SEND Learner Support & Mentoring – First point of contact for SEND students, providing tailored out‑of‑class support, regular mentoring and advocacy.
- Engagement, Activities & Inclusion – Plan and deliver lunchtime and social activities, lead events promoting positive interaction and inclusion.
- Collaboration & Student Welfare – Work closely with curriculum teams, attend support meetings and represent student views.
- Record Keeping & Resource Management – Maintain learning support records, contribute to curriculum performance monitoring, keep displays and resources up‑to‑date.
- College‑Wide Responsibilities & Compliance – Participate in marketing events, uphold safeguarding, equality, diversity, health & safety responsibilities, engage in training and professional development.
About You
- Qualifications & Core Knowledge – A‑Levels (or equivalent) plus GCSE English and Maths; strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice 2014, safeguarding, equality, diversity and confidentiality.
- Experience in SEND & Further Education – Supporting young people with SEND in FE or related settings, collaborating in teams, confident with IT/Microsoft Office.
- Communication, Relationships & Professionalism – Effective communication with students, parents, staff and external agencies; appropriate professional boundaries.
- Learner Support, Organisation & Initiative – One‑to‑one support, prioritising workloads, independent working, contributing to a welcoming environment.
- Values, Flexibility & Safeguarding Commitment – Align with College values (Student Focus, High Performance, Respect, Openness, Honesty); continuous development, flexible working, travel across sites, safeguarding responsibilities.
