Security Assistant
Role: Security Assistant
Location: Tresham College – Wellingborough Campus; will be expected to attend other college campuses in the region.
Salary: £25,497 – £28,482 per annum (Pro-Rata) DOE; Pro-Rata salary between £20,556 – £22,989. People’s pension, Retail and Leisure discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, access to college courses.
Hours: 40 hours per week – 36 weeks per year.
Contract: Permanent – Term Time.
About the role
- Campus Patrol & Safety Monitoring – Conduct regular internal and external patrols to maintain order, monitor behaviour, and ensure a safe and secure environment.
- Emergency Response & Incident Management – Respond to emergencies (fire alarms, medical incidents, intruders), assist with lockdown procedures, and act professionally in challenging situations.
- Access Control & Crime Prevention – Check ID cards, prevent unauthorised access, protect property from theft or damage, and promote crime prevention across the campus.
- Operational Support & Flexibility – Assist with estates duties (deliveries, cleaning, furniture moves), support college events, and provide cover across campuses as required.
- Compliance & Professional Conduct – Uphold safeguarding, equality, and health & safety standards; maintain punctuality and professional appearance; and engage in training including first aid certification.
About you
- Qualifications & Training – SIA licence (or willingness to obtain), First Aid at Work qualification (or willingness to undertake), GCSEs in English and Maths (A-C or equivalent).
- Experience & Knowledge – Experience in customer‑focused public‑facing environments, basic health & safety awareness, understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries.
- Skills & Attributes – Strong verbal and written communication, ability to defuse difficult situations, follow instructions, work independently or as part of a team with tact and diplomacy.
