Location: Central Bedfordshire College - Dunstable Kingsway Campus

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £27,717 and £32,515 per annum (Pro-Rata) DOE and Qualifications, 27 days annual leave (Pro-Rata) plus Bank holidays, People's pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 29.6 hours (4 days) per week - 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent - Part Time

This is a UK based contract, and you are required to have the Right to Work in the UK. Unfortunately, we're unable to offer sponsorship and any offer of employment will be subject to evidence of your Right to Work in the UK.

About the role:

  • Role Purpose: Provide impartial safeguarding and wellbeing advice to students, identify barriers to education, and ensure compliance with child protection policies and statutory requirements.
  • Safeguarding & Wellbeing: Record and monitor concerns on CPOMS, deliver short-term interventions (e.g., suicide prevention, healthy relationships), manage referrals, and liaise with internal/external agencies.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Process pre-enrolment safeguarding files, initiate alerts, complete risk assessments, and stay updated on statutory guidance (KCSIE, Prevent).
  • Engagement & Awareness: Organise health and wellbeing events, attend multi-agency meetings, and provide staff training and advice on safeguarding and child protection issues.
  • Customer Service & Teamwork: Deliver excellent service to students and stakeholders, maintain accurate records, support enrolment and college events, and contribute to continuous improvement within Student Services.

About you:

  • Qualifications: Level 2 English and Maths; Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject; Youth Mental Health First Aid and IAG Level 3 (or willingness to work towards); Fire Marshall training (or willingness to complete).
  • Knowledge & Experience: Experience in a busy student welfare environment; strong understanding of safeguarding and wellbeing; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, databases).
  • Core Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff at all levels; problem-solving and initiative; planning and organising tasks; attention to detail and accuracy; ability to meet deadlines.
  • Values & Attributes: Friendly, outgoing, flexible approach; ability to motivate others and work as part of a team; commitment to high standards of professionalism and student support.
  • Additional Requirements: High-level administration skills; professional telephone manner; good attendance and timekeeping; willingness to adapt and continuously develop skills.
