About the role:
We are seeking Student Engagement Officers to join our Student Services department at The Bedford College Group. As a Student Engagement Officer, you contribute to student success by performing the following responsibilities:
- Promoting Positive Behaviour – Actively encourage respectful conduct and college values across campus, challenge inappropriate behaviour, and support high engagement standards.
- Student Support & Supervision – Monitor social spaces, ID compliance, and student presence; provide direct advice and refer students to appropriate support when needed.
- Collaboration & Communication – Work with curriculum, estates, safeguarding, and development teams to address behaviour concerns and enhance the student experience.
- Enrichment & Development – Contribute to enrichment activities that promote personal growth, behaviour, and attitudes; support wider team initiatives and events.
- Compliance & Professionalism – Maintain accurate records, uphold safeguarding, EDI, and health & safety policies; engage in ongoing professional development.
About you:
- Qualifications & Training – Level 2 in English and Maths required; enhanced DBS clearance; willing to undertake First Aid and a recognised professional qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 4 in youth work or teaching).
- Experience & Knowledge – Experience working with 16–24-year-olds in education or youth settings; understanding of behaviour management, safeguarding, and barriers to learning.
- Skills & Attributes – Empathetic, non-judgemental, and motivational; strong interpersonal, communication, and IT skills; able to maintain accurate records and professional boundaries.
- Teamwork & Flexibility – Collaborative, dependable, and adaptable; willing to work evenings/weekends and support cross-departmental initiatives and events.
- Commitment & Professionalism – Passionate about student success, equality, and inclusion; contributes to team goals, shares knowledge, and engages in ongoing professional development.
