Role: Lecturer – Esports
Location: Bedford College – Cauldwell Street Campus
Salary / Benefits: Salary between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum, dependent on experience and qualifications; 45 days annual leave plus bank holidays, Teacher's Pension, Retail and Leisure discounts; professional and personal development opportunities; access to college courses.
Hours / Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year
Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About the role
- Learner‑Centred Teaching & Support: Deliver high‑quality Level 2 and Level 3 Esports programmes, supporting students to achieve success, realise potential and progress to employment or further study.
- Specialist Esports Delivery: Teach within the Esports specialism with a strong focus on business and enterprise, keep subject knowledge current, and share expertise with colleagues.
- Assessment, Progress & Quality: Assess learner work to awarding‑body standards, monitor progress, meet deadlines, contribute to verification, moderation and continuous quality improvement.
- Curriculum Development & Enrichment: Design engaging learning materials and schemes of work, support curriculum innovation and enrichment activities, and contribute to marketing and recruitment events.
- College Values & Compliance: Uphold TBCG values, promote safeguarding, equality, diversity and health & safety, engage in training and development, and contribute to college‑wide activities and events.
About you
- Qualifications & Subject Expertise: Hold relevant Esports qualifications, GCSE English and maths (Grade 4+), and a recognised teaching qualification (or willingness to achieve); recent industry experience.
- Teaching, Organisation & Classroom Management: Demonstrate excellent communication, organisation, prioritisation and classroom management skills to deliver high‑quality learning experiences.
- IT, Numeracy & Professional Practice: Strong numeracy and IT skills (including Microsoft Office), methodical approach, attention to detail, and ability to handle sensitive data confidentially.
- Adaptability, Teamwork & Resilience: Work independently or collaboratively, meet deadlines, manage pressure, adapt to changing workloads and build professional relationships.
- Values, Safeguarding & Flexibility: Work in line with TBCG values and policies, maintain professional boundaries with young people, support safeguarding and health & safety, and work flexibly across campuses, including evenings and weekends.
