Location: Tresham College – Corby and Wellingborough Campuses
Salary/Benefits: Salary between £47,972 and £62,099 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 35 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, teacher\’s pension, retail and leisure discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.
Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year
Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About the role: We are currently seeking a Head of School in Engineering and Motor Vehicle to join our Engineering department at The Bedford College Group.
- Lead and manage school operations – Provide strategic leadership, oversee team performance, ensure compliance with TBCG policies and statutory requirements.
- Develop ambitious curriculum – Design and implement a high‑quality, sequenced curriculum that meets local needs and raises aspirations for all learners.
- Drive quality and student experience – Ensure effective teaching, learning and assessment practices while keeping the student experience at the heart of all activities.
- Manage resources and performance – Oversee budgets, staffing, timetabling and succession planning; hold teams accountable for achieving targets and standards.
- Represent and innovate – Act as a key representative internally and externally, contribute to strategic projects and foster continuous improvement aligned with TBCG values.
About you
- Essential qualifications – GCSE Maths & English (A‑C) or Level 2 equivalent, recognised teaching qualification (PGCE/Cert Ed) and leadership & management development.
- Leadership & management experience – Proven track record in leading curriculum within FE, implementing strategy, managing teams, budgets and driving change.
- Analytical & strategic skills – Ability to develop policy, write and present performance reports, and manage high‑performing curriculum provision effectively.
- Core competencies – Exceptional organisational, interpersonal, influencing, decision‑making and project management skills; strong IT and numeracy capability.
- Professional attributes – Solutions‑focused, adaptable, confidential, committed to safeguarding, equality & diversity, and able to travel and work flexibly across sites.
