Head of STEM and Head of Mathematics in Eastbourne

We are seeking an exceptional Head of STEM and Head of Mathematics to provide strategic leadership across our Prep and Upper School at the Eastbourne site. In this pivotal role, you will design innovative schemes of work up to GCSE, lead an enthusiastic team of educators, and foster a culture of curiosity and academic ambition across the school.

Strategic Leadership

• Vision & Curriculum: Oversee STEM across the whole school and design long-term Maths schemes of work leading to GCSEs; create an annual departmental development plan aligned with school priorities.

• Team & Operations: Chair fortnightly team meetings, liaise regularly with the Head of Academics, manage the department budget, and deliver targeted in-house INSET.

• Data & Quality: Maintain clear assessment policies, analyze pupil progress data to inform setting and support, run pupil voice surveys, and support ISI inspection readiness.

• Enrichment: Drive cross-curricular STEM initiatives and promote pupil achievements internally and externally.

Teaching & Learning

• Plan and deliver inspiring, high-expectation lessons across the full age and ability range.

• Adapt teaching for all learners, working alongside Learning Enhancement to support pupils with SEND.

• Embed digital technology safely into lessons and maintain stimulating physical and digital learning environments.

• Provide high-quality feedback and track pupil attainment in line with statutory Teachers’ Standards.

Professional Standards & Co-Curricular

• Champion pupil welfare, maintaining strict adherence to safeguarding and school policies.

• Promote an inclusive ethos centered on equality, diversity, and kindness.

• Contribute to assembly programmes, school trips, and co-curricular activities.

This is a Permanent, full time teaching position starting in January 2027.
