The Senior Welfare Manager is responsible for ensuring the delivery of an outstanding welfare and pastoral service. Welfare Managers will follow correct health, safety, and safeguarding procedures to protect students' safety and well-being. The role demands a caring, compassionate individual who can remain calm under pressure and manage the wide-ranging demands of a first-class welfare service.
Qualifications- Applicants with any medical training or professional qualifications in childcare, social work, education, counselling, or psychotherapy are particularly welcomed.
- First aiders are particularly welcomed.
- Driver – current, clean driving licence.
- Minimum of 2 years experience working with children in a pastoral and/or welfare context.
- Experience working in a residential context.
- Experience dealing with international students is preferred.
- Experience managing staff.
- Previous experience as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is desirable.
£1,020 per week. Statutory holiday pay is paid pro-rata with each salary payment on top of the stated weekly salary. Accommodation and meals are provided.
Working DayThe Senior Welfare Manager occupies a vital role within the Welfare Team and assumes overall responsibility for the care, well-being, and safety of the students at all centres. The role is pivotal to ensuring the success of the course and upholding the good name and reputation of Bede's Summer School. You will be the main point of contact for welfare matters that arise, supporting Centre Welfare Managers in managing and dealing with incidents. The job holder must commit to providing a first-class welfare, pastoral, and medical care service that ensures students' physical and emotional well-being, empowering them to seize every opportunity while at Bede's. The Senior Welfare Manager will be trained as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and collaborate closely with other DSLs, Senior House Parents, and House Parents. The working day is long, involves significant contact time with Head Office, Centre Directors, Welfare Managers, Senior House Parents, and House Parents, and is both challenging and rewarding.
