Lessons are based on current EFL materials in accordance with the Bede’s syllabus, and are prepared with the help of the Academic Manager and Senior Teachers. Lesson planning takes place in the teachers’ room during the afternoon once lessons have finished. Teachers are encouraged to assist with the wide range of sports, activities and clubs in the afternoon activity sessions, but their priority is always to prepare high quality lessons. One afternoon or evening per week, as part of our commitment to teachers’ professional development, the Academic Manager and/or Senior Teachers lead a 30-minute input session that all teachers must attend. During the week teachers will be required to assist with a small number of residential duties, such as meal-time duties and wake-up duties. On Fridays, all teachers attend the leavers’ ceremony and personally hand their students their certificates and Teacher’s Reports.
