Bede builds market‑leading gambling entertainment experiences, and great front‑end engineering plays a huge part in how our products feel, perform and scale. We’re looking for a Front‑end leaning Software Engineer to join our Experience Tribe in Newcastle. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building high‑quality, user‑facing features, cares about clean and reusable code, and wants to work closely with product and other engineers to bring ideas to life.
What You'll Be Doing
- Building and evolving user‑facing features using modern front‑end technologies
- Writing clean, reusable and scalable code that stands the test of time
- Working closely with Product and other engineers to ensure designs are technically feasible and well‑implemented
- Optimising applications for performance, responsiveness and scalability
- Contributing to documentation and shared knowledge, helping the whole team move faster
- Taking part in Scrum ceremonies and collaborating openly within your team
- Reviewing code, sharing feedback and supporting high engineering standards
- Debugging and problem‑solving across front‑end applications
What We Are Looking For
- Strong experience with HTML, CSS (including SASS) and JavaScript
- Experience working with JavaScript frameworks, ideally React and TypeScript
- Comfortable consuming RESTful APIs and working with JSON
- Confident building responsive, mobile‑first web applications
- Experience with asset build tools and front‑end tooling
- Solid understanding of Git and version control workflows
- A good grasp of accessibility, web standards and UX best practices
- Experience reviewing code and sharing knowledge with others
- A practical, problem‑solving mindset and the ability to debug effectively
- Happy working independently on tasks while also collaborating as part of a team
