We’re hiring a Product Lead to help shape product direction across part of Bede’s platform in a market that is fast-moving, commercial and highly regulated. This role needs someone who understands the realities of product development in online betting and gaming, and can bring together operator insight, customer understanding and strong product judgement to shape clear priorities and meaningful outcomes. You’ll work closely with technology teams and key stakeholders across the business, with real influence on what gets prioritised, how decisions are made, and where the product goes next. We’re advertising this role as Product Lead, though we’d also welcome applications from strong Product Managers with the right industry background and level of ownership. This is a hybrid role that requires you to be in our Newcastle-upon-Tyne office two days a week. Please apply only if you’re comfortable with this arrangement.
What you’ll be doing:
- Develop product strategy for your area in line with Bede’s wider vision and goals
- Create and manage roadmap priorities across your product domain
- Work closely with technology teams and stakeholders to bring clarity to what needs to be delivered, in what order, and why
- Take ownership of the end-to-end journey for products and services within your area, ensuring features are considered properly and delivered with quality
- Use data, insight and market understanding to identify opportunities, measure success and inform product decisions
- Build strong relationships with operators and internal stakeholders to improve product capability, customer outcomes and commercial value
- Turn operator, customer and market insight into clear priorities, recommendations and product improvements
- Keep close to industry, competitor and regulatory developments relevant to your product area
- Support customer-facing product conversations, including feedback forums, demos and new opportunities where needed
- Contribute to backlog direction and prioritisation, working closely with Product Managers, Product Owners and technology teams
- Depending on level, support the development of others in the team through coaching, knowledge sharing and day-to-day product leadership
- Travel when needed for customer meetings, sales support and industry events
What we are looking for:
- Strong product experience in a software, platform or digital product environment, ideally within online betting and gaming
- Good understanding of operator needs, customer journeys and the commercial context product decisions sit within
- Experience across the full product lifecycle, from concept and roadmap through to delivery and adoption
- Ability to shape product priorities, high-level requirements and clear product direction
- Strong product judgement, with the ability to use customer, operator and market insight to inform decisions
- Confidence working across technology, commercial and customer-facing stakeholders
- Strong analytical skills and experience using data to support decision-making
- Clear communication skills, with the ability to influence, align stakeholders and explain thinking well
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Depending on level, experience coaching, mentoring or supporting others within a product team would be valuable
- willingness to travel when needed for client meetings, sales support and industry events
What we can offer you:
- A friendly, flexible and trust-based approach to working
- 25 days annual leave, plus 8 bank holidays and usually a generous Christmas break
- Fully matched private pension scheme (up to 8%)
- Bupa private healthcare from day one, including cash plan benefits, dental and optical cover (covers all pre-existing conditions)
- Life assurance cover of 4x your annual salary
- Employee Assistance Programme (via Bupa), providing confidential support and practical advice whenever you might need it
- Access to Calm - the #1 app for meditation and sleep
- Innovation and learning – space to develop skills, try new ideas and experiment, with an annual hackathon where some ideas make it into real work.
- A work-owned mobile phone or tablet of your choice, with the monthly contract covered by us
- A great office setup – free snacks and drinks every day, plus regular food vans from some of the best places in Newcastle
- Bede Bucks – exclusive colleague discounts and access to a wellbeing platform
- Lots of social events – both in and outside of working hours
- Referral programme – help us grow the team and receive a referral bonus of up to £3,000 (pre-tax, subject to scheme terms)
- Bede swag – including hoodies, t-shirts and our much-loved Bede socks
