We’re looking for a People Coordinator to join our People Team in Newcastle. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in getting the detail right, and wants to build broad experience across the full employee lifecycle. You’ll play an important role in keeping our People operations running smoothly, while also getting involved in wider People initiatives and projects that support the experience of our colleagues across Bede.

This is a hybrid role that requires you to be in our Newcastle-upon-Tyne office three days a week. Please apply only if you’re comfortable with this arrangement.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Acting as a first point of contact for the People Team, responding to queries and directing these appropriately.
  • Coordinating key People processes across the employee lifecycle, including new starters, movers and leavers.
  • Preparing contracts, variation letters and other formal correspondence, including basic contractual calculations such as pro-rata salary and annual leave entitlements.
  • Coordinating accurate monthly payroll data from multiple sources.
  • Maintaining colleague records and ensuring People systems are accurate, up to date and working effectively.
  • Supporting managers with onboarding activity for new starters and internal movers, including hosting Welcome to Bede sessions.
  • Managing the People Team inbox and responding to day-to-day queries on topics such as absence, policies and references, escalating where needed.
  • Supporting the administration of colleague benefits and wider HR operations activity.
  • Coordinating and supporting our L&D function, including maintaining our learning management system.
  • Helping to keep our HR Operations SharePoint and internal process documentation current and useful.
  • Supporting People Team initiatives and projects across our locations, with opportunities to contribute ideas and continuous improvement.
  • Assisting with audit requirements, data requests, management information and reporting across the business.
  • Raising purchase orders and processing invoices from third-party suppliers.
  • Providing general coordination and administrative support across the wider People Team as needed.

What we’re looking for:

  • Some experience in HR and/or Learning & Development would be helpful, but it’s not essential if you’re keen to learn and build your experience.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel for basic reporting and data handling.
  • System savvy, with confidence working across different platforms and tools; HRIS or LMS experience would be a bonus.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Able to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • A clear and confident communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Good at building positive working relationships with a range of people.
  • Well organised, able to manage routine processes while staying flexible when priorities shift.
  • Comfortable working to deadlines and following tasks through to completion.
  • Proactive, dependable and willing to take ownership of your work.
  • Curious, open to change and keen to get involved in improving how things are done.

What we can offer you:

Here at Bede, we offer a competitive salary and a strong benefits package, but what really matters to us is creating an environment where people feel trusted, supported and able to do their best work. We’re a people-centric business and we regularly review our benefits based on colleague feedback, so what we offer continues to reflect what matters most to our teams.

Some Of The Benefits You Can Expect Include:

  • A friendly, flexible and trust-based approach to working.
  • 25 days annual leave, plus 8 bank holidays and a generous Christmas break.
  • Fully matched private pension scheme (5-8% match).
  • Bupa private healthcare from day one, including cash plan benefits, dental and optical cover (covers all pre-existing conditions).
  • Life assurance cover of 4 × your annual salary.
  • Employee Assistance Programme (via Bupa), providing confidential support and practical advice whenever you might need it.
  • Access to Calm – the #1 app for meditation and sleep.
  • Innovation and learning – space to develop skills, try new ideas and experiment, with an annual hackathon where some ideas make it into real work.
  • A work-owned mobile phone or tablet of your choice, with the monthly contract covered by us.
  • A great office setup – free snacks and drinks every day, plus regular food vans from some of the best places in Newcastle.
  • Bede Bucks – exclusive colleague discounts and access to a wellbeing platform.
  • Lots of social events – both in and outside of working hours.
