The successful candidate will need to be a reliable and capable individual, who can use their own initiative, as well as work as part of a team. Experience of cleaning in a school environment would be beneficial but not essential as full training and support will be given.

As part of our Whole School Domestics Department, you will work closely with our Domestic Supervisors and the wider Domestic Operations Team to deliver outstanding cleaning services across the school. This is a role where reliability, pride in your work, and a positive attitude really matter.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out a range of cleaning duties such as dusting, vacuuming, mopping, laundry, and cobwebbing.
  • Working on a rotational basis to support the team and cover absence.
  • Contributing fully to Spring and Deep Cleaning programmes.
  • Continuously seeking ways to improve cleaning standards and techniques.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the Facilities department.
  • Upholding excellent timekeeping, attendance, and professional standards.
  • Following Health & Safety policies, including manual handling and COSHH requirements.
  • Demonstrating a strong personal commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.

This post is regulated activity. You will be required to work 15 hours each week, Monday to Friday between 19:00 and 22:00 (3 hours per evening). You will also work 1 in 4 Saturdays for 3.75 hours.

Candidates will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers, the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), Prohibition from Teaching Checks, Prohibition from Management Checks.

  • Providing a safe and welcoming environment where both children and adults feel secure, able to talk and believe that they are being listened to;
  • Playing a key role in prevention of harm and an equal responsibility to act on any suspicion or disclosure that may indicate a child is at risk;
  • When concerned about the welfare of a student, acting in the best interests of the student.

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job candidates to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
