The Business Development Manager will be responsible for the development and nurturing of relationships with high level stakeholders having significant influence on national purchasing decisions. These may include NHS Wales, Local Health Board Commodity Advisory Panels and Local Health Board Procurement teams. A key element of the role is to premeditate activities that will influence the design of published tenders for the MDS portfolio that will ensure BD has a successful outcome.
Main responsibilities will include:
- Achieving or exceeding annual sales targets for NHS Wales, focusing on key strategic growth drivers within the BD portfolio.
- Allocating a minimum of 4 days a month to strategic activities and pre-tender planning in Wales, including analysing current business, completing a gap analysis, and generating the territory plan in conjunction with other TMs for the Wales Territory.
- Understanding and anticipating Welsh national health priorities, current and future pains and needs in depth, and communicating these within the wider sales team in Wales as appropriate.
- Suggesting and planning compelling solutions to customer issues to support the tender selection process within Wales.
- Bringing fresh insight to customers’ business needs to support and achieve national objectives in meeting cash releasing and cost avoidance programmes.
- Retaining overall responsibility for the coordination of all tenders relating to the MDS portfolio and contributing, if applicable, to tenders for other portfolios of products from other divisions.
- Planning and allocating resources for all MDS pre and post tender implementations and tracking performance, adjusting resources where necessary to achieve the plan.
- Building expert knowledge on competitor activities, pricing strategies and go to market activities.
- Building and managing internal/external relationships involving all partners and influential bodies within Wales.
- Identifying the contact matrix within the procurement domain of the contracting authority ensuring that all potential points of contact and influence are managed appropriately.
- Coordinating account level plans with other Team members, without direct hierarchical control.
About you:
- Proven years of sales experience within healthcare sales is critical to be successful.
- Strong leadership and management skills, together with a consistent track record of complex problem solving.
- Demonstrated drive to succeed as well as strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong coalitions and influence key partners.
- Experience demonstrating strengths to drive growth across your territory.
- You must be based in territory and comfortable travelling for up to 80% of your time within Wales.
