The Medical Advisor is a key position in the BD MDS UKI Medical Team and is primarily responsible for service solutions such as conducting practice versus guidelines reviews for IV Therapy and Vascular Access Management. Implementation of evidence generation & dissemination, scientific exchange & insight, KOL engagement and medical/clinical workstreams in collaboration with the UKI Medical Manager to support the operational & strategic activities of the business.
Responsibilities
- Medical Solutions: Responsible for all aspects of the identification, approval, and execution of BD MDS Medical Services Practice Versus Guidelines Reviews. Identifies improvement and new opportunities for service development for creation by the EMEA Medical Services Manager.
- Scientific Exchange & Insight: Tracks and provides response to medical inquiries and off‑label requests, supported by the EMEA HQ Medical Affairs team and the Global Medical Information team. Gathers medical insights that support the business, through engagement of KOL, scientific societies, and the analysis of the latest published literature.
- Evidence Generation & Dissemination: Consolidates UKI evidence requests, completes with business associates the evidence proposal for submission to the UKI evidence council. Supports the EMEA MA team in the execution of global, regional, and local evidence opportunities.
- KOL & Society Engagement: Responsible for the organisation of & supporting the implementation of compliance activities required to engage medical KOL, together with the UKI IH coordinator. Enables the establishment & maintenance of credible peer‑to‑peer relationships with the KOL and societies, as identified by the UKI KOL and society strategy.
- Business Support: Completes medical review of local ad‑prom material through the Veeva vault platform.
Qualifications
- Education: Certified as a Health Care Professional with experience in IV Therapy and Vascular Access, ideally with a degree and advanced level study.
- Experience: In‑depth knowledge of Vascular Access and IV Therapy gained from clinical experience of working in an acute healthcare environment. Experience working in clinical specialities such as specialist vascular access teams, Critical Care, Oncology, Haematology, Renal, Anaesthesiology or Infection Prevention is advantageous. Previous professional experience in medical affairs or/and clinical roles in Pharma or Med Tech would be an advantage. Knowledge of the Healthcare System and the medical device industry, including relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards which apply to interactions with HCPs, payers, and industry representatives. Awareness of GCP & European clinical trial requirements & Medical device regulations.
