Reporting to the Moulding Planned Maintenance Leader, the Mould Repair Shift Engineering Technician will provide toolroom‑based support for repairing plastic tools and equipment to meet the demands of a high‑volume environment. The role also includes on‑shift leadership and mentorship of mould repair technicians and apprentices.

Responsibilities

  • Economically utilise time and in‑house facilities to produce and repair moulding tool parts.
  • Provide engineering support for production when required.
  • Employ cylindrical and surface precision grinding, milling, turning, polishing, and laser engraving techniques.
  • Manufacture jigs and fixtures to support production.
  • Comply with Good Manufacturing Procedures, safe working practices and maintain high standards of housekeeping in the toolroom and any other relevant areas.
  • Adhere to all Safety Lockout and work warning systems.
  • Respond to emergencies, including overtime work as directed by the Moulding Planned Maintenance Leader.
  • Maintain spares records to facilitate replenishment and cost control.
  • Coach, mentor, and train toolroom associates and apprentices using logical root‑cause analysis to resolve mould tooling issues.
  • Ensure containment and implementation of corrective and preventative measures.
  • Identify cost‑reduction opportunities and process improvements to deliver the PM maintenance plan.
  • Document resource requirements within the budget cycle.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 apprenticeship in mechanical, electrical, or multi‑skilled engineering (essential).
  • Experience ideally within a high‑volume injection moulding environment.
  • Experience ideally in mould tooling maintenance and repair duties.
  • Experience in training and developing individuals.
  • Knowledge of precision plastic mould repair techniques in an industrial environment is an advantage.
  • Ability to work from engineering drawings (pre‑requisite).
  • Excellent PC knowledge and capability.

Salary and Shift

This is a day‑shift on‑site role (7 am – 7 pm, 3 on and 3 off) offering a competitive salary plus an 11% shift premium. Salary range: £27,600.00 – £42,075.00 GBP per annum.
