This is a hands-on role in a clean, safety-focused manufacturing environment where you will help produce advanced polymer materials used in medical applications. You will work closely with experienced professionals to learn and apply chemical manufacturing techniques while studying for a fully funded BSc in Chemistry. This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience and a recognised qualification at the same time.
Employment Type: Full-time (4 days on-site, 1 day remote learning)
Apprenticeship Duration: 4 years
Qualification: BSc Chemistry (Level 6 Apprenticeship)
Main responsibilities will include:
- Carry out polymer synthesis and purification using established laboratory methods
- Prepare, clean, and calibrate glassware and equipment before and after production
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment in laboratory and production areas
- Record production activities accurately in batch documentation and logs
- Support equipment maintenance in collaboration with engineering staff
- Monitor and manage stock levels of raw materials and solvents with the planning team
- Handle hazardous waste disposal in line with safety and environmental procedures
- Assist with process improvements, scale-up activities, and validation of manufacturing methods.
