The Sales Manager, UKI & Nordics will oversee and inspire a workforce with a direct sales & Application Specialist team in UKI & Nordics. The total annual revenue responsibility for this position exceeds $2 Million USD and will report to the European MicroScan General Manager.

The Sales Manager will have responsibility for driving profitable revenue growth. S/he will have the autonomy to drive goals and objectives, measuring and monitoring performance and critically contributing to a holistic strategic and business planning process. S/he will drive results through exceptional leadership skills, consistently championing and supporting a culture of continuous improvement, with an eye on reaching optimum performance on an individual and team basis. The successful person in this position will also enjoy a substantial opportunity for career development and growth within the parent company.

Reporting Relationships

Sales Manager UKI & Nordics reports to the European MicroScan General Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Sales process execution & improvement: Develop annual budgets based on achieving above market growth for the microbiology product line and geography and deliver budgeted performance.
  • Drive rigorous business processes across a decentralized site structure, and build a sustainable best in class commercial process, metrics, and compensation programs to effectively drive this function.
  • Define overall strategy for the sales function with short-and long-term plans in place globally to execute strategy.
  • Develop effective competitive sales and demo strategies globally with an emphasis on driving above market growth.
  • Proactively present, minimize and manage business risks.
  • Establish, review and oversee the implementation of policies and procedures that ensures strict compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Interface with local and regional support function teams including marketing, customer support, logistics and distribution, human resources, IT, and finance.
Talent Management
  • Build and develop a high-performance team (incl. effective change management) that is “best in class.” Constantly maintains a mind-set focused on recruiting top talent. “The Best Team Wins.”
  • Oversee the development of direct reports with an active succession plan in place.
Leadership
  • Embrace the Danaher core values, and ensure all associates are actively engaged in the achievement of the company growth objectives.
  • Provide leadership in measuring and improving results through a metrics-driven, continuous improvement culture.
  • Drive existing team to accept nothing less than a results-oriented focus.
  • Provide leadership for each country to ensure they achieve established targets and are accountable for key performance objectives in terms of sales, market share and profitability.
  • Ensure that all parts of the UKI & Nordics sales organization continually strive to increase customer satisfaction.
  • Continuously drive Voice of the Customer (VOC) back into all parts of the business to ensure customers’ interests are prominently positioned.
Commercial And Market-facing
  • Advocate for the customer for product quality and for providing excellent customer solutions.
  • Build brand awareness and preference for Beckman Coulter MicroScan products.
  • Ensure strong understanding of the marketplace dynamics including competitive and customer trends.
  • Track competitive market share, win/loss data and fully understand competitive selling strategies.
  • Monitor the scientific and related industry trends, and work with the rest of the executive team to identify new opportunities and enhance business ventures.
  • Represent the organization in customer negotiations, trade shows, seminars, conferences and other official occasions.
