Becketts Foods is looking for an experienced and passionate Technical Manager to support our team in Coventry on a 9 month fixed term contract. This is an exciting opportunity for a confident technical professional to take a leading role in protecting and developing our standards across food safety, legality, quality and compliance.
You’ll be joining a fast-paced, quality-focused food manufacturing environment where your expertise will make a genuine difference. From maintaining rigorous technical standards and customer requirements to developing a high-performing team, you’ll play a key role in ensuring Becketts Foods continues to deliver safe, legal and high-quality products every day.
As Technical Manager you’ll be a key member of the site leadership team, providing expert technical direction and helping to shape our ongoing approach to food safety, quality and compliance. You’ll take ownership of the technical function, ensuring we consistently meet the expectations of customers, regulators and industry standards. You’ll also build strong relationships across the business and with external stakeholders, while identifying opportunities to continually improve our technical performance.
Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who can lead from the front — someone who combines strong technical knowledge with the ability to inspire, coach and develop others. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys making things happen, solving problems and creating a culture where quality and food safety are everyone’s responsibility.
We’re looking for an experienced technical professional who can bring both technical expertise and strong leadership skills to the role. You’ll ideally have:
- Proven experience working within the food manufacturing industry, with a strong understanding of commercial and industry standards.
- Experience with BRCGS, retailer standards and customer requirements.
- A strong understanding of HACCP, food safety, legality and quality systems.
- Experience of managing, mentoring and developing a technical team.
- Experience working with retail customers and external stakeholders.
- Experience liaising with regulatory bodies and other key external partners.
- Strong analytical, IT and numeracy skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to influence at all levels.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- A genuine passion for food safety, quality and continuous improvement.
- A collaborative mind-set — being a team player is essential.
Qualifications:
- HACCP Level 3 – desirable.
- Food Safety Level 4 – desirable.
- Relevant technical or food science qualification/experience – advantageous.
